Scholarships for International Students
Each year, a limited number of non-resident tuition fee waivers are available to undergraduate international students (F-1 visa holders) on a competitive basis - these waivers are provided through CSUEB's Global Scholarships.
Global Excellence Scholarships
A limited number of full non-resident tuition waiver awards (over $12,500 per year) for incoming Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV first-year freshmen students who:
- Are in F-1 status or plan to get an F-1 visa
- Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV to and enroll at Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV as a first-time freshman for Fall 2024
- Have a minimum 3.3 grade of point average
- Display exceptional scholastic ability and prior academic achievement (determined by high school record, standardized tests (SAT/ACT or AP), and essay)
- Demonstrate Financial Need
- Commit to enrolling in 15 units per semester
Duration of Award
This scholarship is granted on an academic year basis (fall and spring semesters) and is renewable for up to four years total. Recipients are required to maintain an eligible GPA and enrollment requirements to continue receiving the award in the second semester and beyond.
Global Honors Scholarships
A limited number of non-renewable awards of $2,500+ for one year of study at Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV for undergraduate students (first time freshman, transfer students and continuing international students) who:
- Are in F-1 status or plan to get an F-1 visa
- Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV to and/or enroll at Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV as an undergraduate student for Fall 2024
- Have a minimum 3.3 grade point average
- Have completed fewer than 75 semester units at the time of application
- Commit to enrolling in 15 units per semester while receiving the scholarship
- Demonstrate Financial Need
This scholarship is granted for one academic year (fall and spring semesters). Recipients are required to maintain an eligible GPA and enrollment requirements to continue receiving the award in the second semester. Recipients may re-apply each year to continue receiving the award as long as they continue to meet eligibility. Since waivers are granted on a competitive basis, a recipient is not guaranteed to receive the award beyond the initial award year.
Global Scholarships Application Process and Timeline
- Only students who are seeking to earn an undergraduate degree from CSUEB may apply. Short-term, non-degree seeking students are not eligible to apply.
- Submit application and essay via Pioneer Scholarships Portal. (Students must have submitted a Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV application in order to access the scholarship portal and must submit unofficial transcripts and test scores by the posted scholarship deadline.)
- For the 2025-26 academic year, the portal is expected to open in December 2024 and Global Scholarships priority deadline is February 28, 2025.
- Awards will be made in the spring/summer of each year for the following academic year.
Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV Pioneer Scholarships Portal
Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV to hundreds of different scholarships with a single application - open to all Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV students. Note: international students may apply for merit-based awards only.

Portal includes both CSUEB institutional awards (most ranging from $300 to $3,000) and external scholarships.
