Academic Support Programs

Academic Success Programs

The Advising Resource Centers (ARC) serves as a central hub to facilitate connections between students and their advisors. Whether you're seeking guidance on course selection, degree planning, or academic policies, ARC is here to assist you in connecting with the right advisor for your needs. Our mission is to streamline the advising process and ensure that every student receives personalized and effective support on their academic journey at Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV.

The Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA) provides CSUEB students with individual and collaborative learning opportunities through peer-to-peer support programs, including Peer Tutoring (various subjects), Writing Tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction (SI). SCAA services help students set achievable goals, develop academic skills, and improve subject comprehension.

The SCAA is located on the Third Floor of the CORE Building. SCAA can be reached via email at SCAA@csueastbay.edu or via phone at 510-885-3664.

The STEM Lab, situated in the new Braddock Center for Science and Innovation under the College of Science, provides a collaborative learning environment that connects students with undergraduate Learning Assistants (LAs) and graduate Teaching Associates (TAs). This specialized study facility is tailored to support students enrolled in courses like BIOL, CHEM, CS, MATH, PHYS, PSYC, and STAT. Students are welcome to drop in with questions for the LAs, use the space for group study sessions, or work on their homework assignments.
The Program for Accelerated College Education (PACE Program) offers a fast track for upper-division students to complete their bachelor’s degree while working. PACE is designed to help students balance the demands of a full-time job and family. Majors are offered in Human Development or Liberal Studies with classes held one or two nights each week or online.
The University Honors Program provides outstanding students with the opportunity to be challenged academically through special courses and projects. Students participate in honors seminars and conduct independent study/research projects under the direction of a faculty mentor. As a University Honors student, you can be recognized on the record and at graduation. You can also have the opportunity to attend learning/cultural events for University Honors students and faculty and receive special consideration in registration for University Honors-designated courses.

Accessibility Services provides academic accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. Our counselors determine accommodations on an individual basis after reviewing current professional documentation and meeting with the individual. The purpose of such accommodations is to provide equal access to classroom programs and campus activities in a manner consistent with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, associated California laws and regulations, and CSU policy.

In addition to accommodation and support services to University students, faculty and staff members, we inform and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure successful implementation of accommodations and to increase the level of access and inclusion of all individuals on campus.

Project IMPACT is a federally funded TRiO Student Support Disability Services Program. It offers ancillary assistance to students with documented disabilities. Project IMPACT offers selected students individualized services such as:

  • Academic advising
  • Tutoring resources
  • One-on-one support
  • Wellness counseling
  • Skills-building classes
  • Financial aid and scholarship information
  • Career assessment

Equity and Opportunity Programs

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed to improve access and retention of historically low-income, first-generation, and educationally disadvantaged students. EOP identifies and admits students who have the potential to succeed at California State University campuses, but who have not achieved their educational goals because of economic and/or educational background. EOP provides students with the resources, tools, and skills to ensure academic and personal success through a variety of academic support services.
The EXCEL Program is a federally funded TRIO initiative designed to provide eligible undergraduate students with comprehensive academic and personal support throughout their education. It offers services like academic advising, personal counseling, scholarship information, career development, graduate school advising, and skill-building workshops. Eligibility is limited to first-generation college students, low-income students, or those with registered disabilities.
