Existing ChatGPT Accounts

We are excited to share that CSU Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV as part of the , will be rolling out ChatGPT Education to the campus community. ChatGPT Edu is a version of ChatGPT designed specifically for universities with privacy and security in mind. Our campus community will have access to powerful AI tools tailored to support learning, research, and productivity--all included as part of our campus-wide service.

Based on our records, it appears that some users already have a ChatGPT subscription or a paid OpenAI account linked to your campus email address. We want to make sure these users have a smooth transition. Accounts utilizing campus email addresses will be migrated to be part of the ChatGPT Edu plan.

Action Required

If you are one of these users: after our campus IT department enables the ChatGPT Edu platform on campus, the next time you login to ChatGPT, you will be prompted to decide how you want to transition your existing workspace. You will have two options:

1. Transfer existing chat history and GPTs. This option will merge your existing chat history and settings into the new university-provided workspace.

OR

2. Export and delete your existing chat history. This option will remove your current workspace but allow you to more easily create a new personal account if applicable.

NOTE:

Advanced Users Those who created Custom GPTs will lose access to these after migration if option 2 shown above is selected. Please document and export all relevant data from these Custom GPTs. Custom GPTs will not be transferred as part of the migration process.

Current Paid License Holders

As part of this migration, your paid account will receive a prorated refund.

If this was a personal-use account, one not used for official university purposes, you may wish to keep a personal ChatGPT subscription separate from the campus plan. If so, we recommend creating a new OpenAI account with a personal email address and exporting your chat history.
