TA and ISA Positions
Teaching Associate Positions

Teaching Associate assignments primarily involve classroom and laboratory instruction. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to: classroom or laboratory instruction, making assignments to students, preparing course materials, administering examinations, assessing student performance, tutoring students and determining course grades. Duties can also include assisting faculty with field experience, supervision, simulation exercises and/or research projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education required/academic eligibility
Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work. Admitted to a CSUEB graduate degree program that is directly related to the discipline to which the individual is assigned. Current enrollment in quarter of appointment (GS X6990 Graduate Student Completion will count towards the current enrollment requirement if the student is in the thesis writing or comprehensive exam preparation stage). Making sufficient progress in good standing towards the graduate degree, i.e., maintaining a 3.0 G.P.A. and enrolled in courses for the degree or completion of the thesis, project or comprehensive exam within two years after completing all required course work.
Knowledge, special skills and abilities required
Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned, evidenced, for example by enrollment in or completion of specific coursework that is directory related to the discipline to which the individual is assigned. Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and ability to instruct and evaluate students.
Ability to function under stress.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility requirements may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
Instructional Student Assistant Positions
Instructional Student Assistant assignments primarily involve teaching, grading and/or tutoring duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education required/academic eligibility
Completion of specific coursework that is directory related to the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
Admission or registration as a CSUEB student, i.e., enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate units (4 units for students enrolled in a graduate program), or enrolled for at least 6 units in the preceding quarter, worked as a Student Assistant and is either taking a recess quarter off and therefore is not enrolled as a student or is enrolled in less than 6 units. Students are restricted to one "bridge" quarter per college year (Summer - Spring). Must be maintaining at least a 2.0 or 3.0 G.P.A., as determined by the hiring department.
Knowledge, special skills and abilities required
Demonstrated ability to learn and perform assigned work; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; and accept responsibility.
Ability to function under stress.
