Application Requirements
Admission shall be granted on a competitive basis in accordance with Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations (Section 41020). Meeting the minimum requirements qualifies an individual for the program but does not guarantee admission. Requirements for admission shall apply to all EdD applicants and shall include, at minimum, the following:
- A Baccalaureate degree and Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Leadership skills and abilities in education or closely related field as shown in resume/CV.
- Professional experiences demonstrating problem-solving ability and assessments of current educational policies and practices.
- Three confidential recommendation forms.
- Documented professional commitment to equity and social justice.
- District Support Agreement (if applicable) stating support for candidate’s doctoral studies from employer.
- A written response to a writing prompt concerning issues of school effectiveness.

The application cycle for June 2025 will open in September 2024.

- The application will require you to upload a response to a writing prompt, your resume, and your unofficial undergraduate and graduate degree college transcripts.
- Three recommenders should complete and email a recommendation form to eddadmission@csueastbay.edu.
- If you work for the CSU system or a school district, please have your supervisor/HR manager email the Employer Statement of Support to eddadmission@csueastbay.edu.
- If selected, participate in an interview with the Admission Committee.
- Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV to the University only after receiving notification from the Department. Submit an application through to Cal State Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV and pay the $70 nonrefundable application fee. Be sure to print the application submission confirmation page for your records. Submit all required transcripts only after submitting University Application (which includes transcripts from ALL colleges/universities attended, including community colleges).
