CSU Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV Classroom and Lab Support

Classroom and Lab Support (CLS) is the part of the User Support Services department of  that supports the technology in the learning environments on campus.  This support includes technology used in the University's classrooms and computer labs. Services include maintaining smart classrooms and computer labs, ensuring the optimal operation of presentation and computer equipment in these rooms, as well as providing technology delivery services such as the delivery of computer carts to non-technology equipped classrooms.

   For Faculty and Student use, there are:

  1. Physical Labs and Classrooms with desktops for general in-person instruction. Many of these can also be accessed remotely using the 
  2. Specialized purpose-built physical Labs with various types of computers e.g.
    • Macs for Creative Arts
    • Smart Classrooms with various special Audio-Visual access facilities
    • Accessible Technology Labs
    • Virtual Reality computer equipment, and
    • Departmental Research Labs
  3. Virtual or Cloud-hosted Lab Environments
    • BayCloud - A collection of Virtual Desktop Images hosted in a legacy virtual environment
    • AWS AppStream - A commercial Cloud environment of Virtual Desktop images hosted (currently Amazon, through the Chancellors Office)
      Multiple applications are maintained within two different environments: Standard and Graphics-Intensive. Here is a list of the hosted applications. Additional applications may be requested by submitting a Service Desk Ticket.

There are additional computing resources available including physical computers in the Library Core building, as well as:

  1. Individual Laptops which can be checked out from the Library for a semester
  2. Assistive Technology-equipped Laptops which can be checked out by the semester
  3. A variety of videos and hypertext links to helpful resources that explain how to use each.

All of these systems are administered and managed by Campus IT and help for them is provided by the Campus Help-Desk

All smart classrooms receive direct response help through the classroom phones when dialing x5HELP. Dialing this number outside of a smart classroom will NOT take you to the direct response line.
