Keynote Speaker: Yessenia Funes -  Monday, 4/23, 4:00pm - 5:30pm, New UU MPR

Yessenia Funes writes about environmental justice. She primarily looks at how race plays into environmental policy and how communities of color forge their own solutions to the climate crisis in the era of Trump where deregulation and industry interests run rampant. She reports on this full-time for Earther, a new environmental news site from the Gizmodo Media Group. When talking about the environment, Yessenia takes a look at other social ills: immigration, segregation, tribal mistreatment, and the list goes on. The environment is about more than wildlife and conservation; it's about people and their health. That's what Yessenia attempts to communicate in her everyday work. .
